Bicycle Ride Across Canada Raises Awareness for Saharawi People

On May 4, 2014, Daniel Pigeon began his bike ride from Vancouver, B.C., to St. John's, Newfoundland, to raise awareness for the Saharawi people of Western Sahara, most of whom are living in refugee camps as a result of a 39-year political conflict.

It was while he was studying for his certificate in conflict resolution at Mt. Royal University that Daniel first became aware of the plight of the Saharawi people and decided to become involved.  He travelled to Algeria in November of 2013 for the "Dialogue for Peace" that took place between leaders from the Christian, Muslim, Saharawi, Algerian and other communities over a one week period.  Following that trip, he felt compelled to do something more and, through prayer & fasting, sought God's leading.  This video tells the rest of the story…

Jesus, Prince of Peace
Give us the courage to love our enemies.
Give us the courage to love when it is difficult to do so.
Thank you for the cross and resurrection where justice, mercy, and grace was poured out to your sons and daughters.
We pray for the peace of conflicts around the world, in our lives and in our hearts.
Jesus, lead the way to peace and give us courage to follow.

Dear God, sometimes my "testing" season seems so long. Please give me courage to endure until the end. Help me not to bail! You said you would bless me for hanging in there - I will not give up on you or your promises. You are with me and will see me through this trial.
